Hawg Tank to Feature Fishing Demos at Kansas Open Season Sportsman’s Expo
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (March 9, 2021) — Fishing demos will take center stage at the Hawg Tank as part of the Kansas Open Season Sportsman’s Expo in Overland Park, Kan., March 12-14 at the Overland Park Convention Center.
The Hawg Tank is a mobile 5,000 gallon tank, built on a trailer frame, filled with water and stocked with fish to conduct demonstrations of fishing techniques. With the use of a sound system, guest fishing experts will both educate and entertain show attendees all weekend. The Hawg Tank travels the country to boat shows, sportsman shows, fairs and festivals.
“It’s good to have a show since we have not worked for a year now,” said Jim Vitaro, owner/operator of the Hawg Tank. “It means that things are starting to move in the right direction, and things are starting to open back up. It’s great that this show is setting the pace to move forward in such a positive direction. Plus we get to do what we love to do the best, talk about fishing and the great outdoors.”
At the Kansas Expo, home state fishermen, Travis Perret, Brent Chapman and Thomas Wells will all be holding demos/seminars at the Hawg Tank.
“The tank gives people a chance to see how different baits work under water, while at the same time you can see fish react to the different baits and techniques,” shared Vitaro. “Plus you’re able to talk to the pros before and after their seminars, and ask them questions.”
Perret, who hails from Overland Park, has won several fishing tournaments using the Ned Rig and other finesse style techniques. He is part of the Z-Man Fishing pro staff and Denali Rods pro staff and will teach Expo attendees how to get more fish in the boat with finesse techniques.
Chapman fishes at the highest level of bass fishing in the world including the Bass Pro Tour, Bassmaster Elite Series and Major League Fishing. He won the 2012 Elite Series Angler of the Year, which most anglers consider the toughest and most prestigious title that a professional angler can attain. Chapman has qualified for 14 Bassmaster Classics and has won 4 Bassmaster tournaments. Chapman calls Lake Quivira, Kansas home.
Wells is a lifelong Kansas City resident and specializes in fishing the Kansas City and Ozark area lakes and waterways. Founder of the Kansas City Team Tour, a local tournament series that has some of the highest payouts and toughest local competition, Wells has extensive experience fishing for bass, crappie, wipers and walleye. Wells has applied his knowledge successfully to place high finishes in a variety of local fishing tournaments.
Perret will be at the Hawg Tank once on Friday, January 15, three times on Saturday, January 16 and once on Sunday, January 17, while Wells will appears three time on Saturday and Chapman will be appearing twice on Sunday only. For a full Kansas seminar schedule, CLICK HERE.
