Sport Fishing TV Wins Top Award

Sport Fishing TV, a weekly fishing show based on the award-winning magazine, has been honored with a top television award, the Telly. SFTV's episode on salmon fishing in British Columbia won Tellys in three categories. SFTV is produced by World Productions, a division of Bonnier Corp.

This is World Productions' second Telly in the annual competition. Dubbed the Emmy for regional and cable TV, the Telly is one of the nation's premier awards recognizing outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions.

Sport Fishing TV was honored in the Nature/Wildlife, Sports and Other categories for the British Columbia salmon episode that profiled an exclusive resort called Sund's Lodge. Located on Malcolm Island near the extreme northern end of Vancouver Island, Sund's is surrounded by snowcapped mountain peaks and more wildlife than anyone could imagine. While taping, the crew got up close and personal with bears, humpback whales, bald eagles and giant sea lions. The fishing was spectacular, with salmon, halibut and ling cod.

"I've always thought we had one of the highest-production-quality outdoor shows on TV. It's terrific to find out that independent judges felt the same!" said Dean Travis Clarke, the host of Sport Fishing TV. The episode was produced by Ken Kavanaugh and edited by Eric Livengood. Sport Fishing Magazine TV appears regularly on both the nationally televised Versus Network and the regional Florida Sun Sports Network

Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards annually showcase the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, TV cable operators and corporate video departments in the world. The Telly Awards is a widely known and highly respected national and international competition that receives over 14,000 entries annually from all 50 states and many foreign countries.
