Saveur Tops Time and Sports Illustrated in Best of Photojournalism Contest

New York, N.Y. – One of the most prestigious photojournalism competitions in the United States, the National Press Photographers Association's Best of Photojournalism, has named Saveur magazine the winner in the Best Use of Pictures by a Magazine category. Time claimed the runner-up position and Sports Illustrated rounded out the top three.

The NPPA judges shuffled through more than 1,200 entries over four days last week. This was the first time Saveur had entered the contest.

"It's a great thrill for Saveur to receive this recognition -- and a testament to the talents of our staff," said Editor-in-Chief James Oseland.

The Best of Photojournalism Committee is made up of some of the most prominent and visionary photographers, editors and educators in visual journalism. Over the last seven years this committee has guided NPPA's contest to become the largest photojournalism contest in the world.

Saveur's unique blend of appealing recipes, savvy yet unpretentious articles and gorgeous design appeals to both its loyal readers and a growing community of culinary enthusiasts. The magazine, which has won multiple National Magazine Awards for its articles, photography, design and general excellence, is published nine times a year by Bonnier Corp.
