Inspired by a trip to Bali, Hertz was prompted to come home and fully erase the boundary between interior and exterior so his family could relax and entertain under the sky virtually year-round. Garden Design's summer issue also features the Asian-style retreat at the Hollywood home of pop singer Ashlee Simpson. While she's on stage, it's all passion.
